Implicit in our approach is the understanding that all empirical knowledge is changeable, and so is our theory of scientific change. This encyclopedia openly facilitates this idea through its mechanism of modifications.

Each suggested modification is an attempt to improve our scientonomic knowledge. When an article is published in the Journal of Scientonomy (or any other journal that makes use of the scientonomic workflow), the modifications suggested in the article are properly documented and individual encyclopedia pages are created for each suggested modification. Each of these modifications is then evaluated separately by the community. If the suggested modification meets the expectations of the community, it becomes accepted and the respective encyclopedia articles are being altered to reflect that modification. If the community decides that the modification doesn't improve our communal knowledge, then the modification is not accepted.

To add a new suggested modification, please go to your community page and click on Add a New Modification button. The communities registered in this encyclopedia can be located here.

Here is the list of all modifications:

ModificationDate SuggestedSummaryVerdictDate Assessed
Sciento-2016-00013 September 2016Accept a new formulation of the third law to make it clear that employed methods do not have to be deducible from all accepted theories and employed methods but only from some.Accepted21 January 2017

Sciento-2017-000327 January 2017Accept that licenses to teach [ʾijāzāt] are reliable indicators of which texts were considered authoritative in the Medieval Arabic scientific mosaic (MASM) in c. 750-1258 CE in the Abbasid caliphate. Thus, a proposition can be said to be accepted in MASM if the evidence of the licenses to teach [ʾijāzāt] indicates so.Accepted16 October 2021
