Abstract

Theory and Reality is an historical introduction to the philosophy of science. It begins with logical empiricism at the beginning of the twentieth century, and examines the problems of induction, then examines Popper's falsificationism. Kuhn and the historical dimensions of philosophy of science are examined, then the historicist philosophy of science of Lakatos and Laudan, and Feyerabend's epistemic anarchism. The sociology of scientific knowledge and Feminist philosophy of science are covered, then naturalism, realism, and Bayesian theories of evidence.
