The Status of Holism and Ripple Effect

Revision as of 20:35, 15 February 2018 by Maxim Mirkin (talk | contribs) (Maxim Mirkin moved page Philosophy of Science - Ripple Effect to Theory Acceptance by Ripple Effect without leaving a redirect)

There appear to be cases where a change in definition may ripple certain changes in our synthetic propositions; are those changes subject to the same principles as scientific change?

As an element undergoes modification, if we take a holistic approach to scientonomy, it seems respectively dependent elements should undergo change too. Our concern is whether this ripple effect will follow the same principles of scientific change as regular theories. Furthermore, these changes are largely dependent on our theory of meaning and whether we interpret it as sense or reference.

In the scientonomic context, this question was first formulated by Hakob Barseghyan, Paul Patton, Calahan Janik-Jones and Liron Cohen in 2018. The question is currently accepted as a legitimate topic for discussion by Scientonomy community.
